Earlier this week, a 24-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped at a law college in Kolkata, triggering widespread outrage. Authorities have taken three people into custody in connection with the incident. The incident has drawn strong comparisons to a similar crime that took place six months ago at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, which had sparked protests across the city and country.
According to a senior Kolkata Police officer who spoke with the news agency PTI, the medical examination confirmed the woman’s allegations. Medical examination revealed physical injuries consistent with the survivor’s allegations, including visible bruises and trauma.
